What is the Annexstad Family Foundation?
The Foundation was established by Al and Cathy
Annexstad and their family to provide financial
support for higher education to deserving students
who have matured through the Big Brothers Big
Sisters program in Minnesota.
What does the scholarship provide?
The amount of the scholarship will be based
upon the individual financial circumstances of
the student and the availability of resources from
the Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship. By
combining student aid resources available from
the Annexstad Family Foundation and Bethel
University, the program’s goal is to assure funds
for tuition, fees, room, board, and books are
provided. Assuming the continued good standing
and annual demonstrated financial need of the
student, the scholarship will be renewed annually
throughout the standard period required to
obtain a bachelor’s degree at Bethel.
Who is eligible?
A successful candidate will be a student who
has shown outstanding performance in high
school, with special emphasis placed on academic
achievement, character, and qualities of leadership
while demonstrating significant financial need.
The student must have matured as a Little in the
Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Minnesota and
be accepted for admission to Bethel University.
How will the selection be made?
Bethel University will determine the recipient
from the list of candidates who have completed
the following steps:
• Applied for and met the conditions of
the Annexstad scholarship,
• Applied and been accepted to
Bethel University,
• Completed the applications for Bethel
financial aid.
How does one apply?
Interested students should apply during
their senior year of high school. Your Big
Brothers Big Sisters chapter may have
already encouraged you to do so. Scholarship
applications are available from your Big
Brothers Big Sisters chapter.
Please contact the Office of Admissions at
Bethel University at 651.638.6242 or visit the
website (www.bethel.edu) to find applications
for admission, as well as financial aid. A
complete admissions file must include: the
application, a personal faith statement, an
official high school transcript, and an ACT or
SAT composite score.
The financial aid process includes completion
of a Bethel University Financial Aid
Application (at www.bethel.edu/finaid)
and submission of the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
(at www.fafsa.ed.gov - Bethel’s Code: 002338).
In some cases, the government requires a
family to provide “verification.” Bethel will
notify you if that is required. These financial
aid applications should be completed as soon
as your family has completed tax returns and
prior to April 15.
When will the recipient be named?
Bethel’s Office of Admissions will notify
students of admission to Bethel within 4-6
weeks of a complete application. Students
will be notified of their eligibility for the
Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship
after they complete the financial aid process
at Bethel.
