What is the Annexstad Family Foundation?
The Foundation was established by Al and Cathy Annexstad and their family to provide financial support for higher education to deserving students who have matured through the Big Brothers
Big Sisters program.
What does the scholarship provide?
The amount of the scholarship will be based upon the individual financial circumstances of the student and the availability of resources from the Annexstad Family Foundation Fund. By combining student financial aid resources provided by the Annexstad Family Foundation, federal, state and University sources, the program’s goal is to secure funds for tuition, fees, room, board, and books. Assuming the continued good standing and annual demonstrated financial need of the student, the scholarship will be renewed annually throughout the standard period required to obtain a bachelor’s degree at the University.
Who is eligible?
A successful candidate will be a student who has shown outstanding performance in high school, with special emphasis placed on academic achievement, character, and qualities of leadership while demonstrating significant financial need. The student must have matured as a “Little” through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program
and be accepted for admission to Indiana University – Bloomington. Preference will be
given to Minnesota and Indiana students.
How will the selection be made?
The Scholarship Committee of the Indiana University Foundation will select the recipients from the list of candidates provided by representatives of Minnesota’s and Indiana’s
Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies. The successful BLOOMINGTON candidates will have applied to and been accepted by Indiana University – Bloomington and will also fulfill the conditions of the scholarship.
How does one apply?
Interested students should apply during their senior year of high school or during their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college. Students not already admitted to Indiana University – Bloomington should complete the university’s application for admission. The university practices rolling admissions; the first priority date for admissions is February 1. After April 1, admission is granted only on a space-available basis. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed by March 1. Copies of these forms are available online, from high school guidance offices, or from Big brothers Big Sisters chapters. Additional documentation, such as parent and student returns and W-2 forms, may be required to finalize the financial aid award. You will be notified if any additional documents are required.
When will the recipient be named?
The recipients will be notified by the Indiana University Foundation in the latter part of June.
