Since 2014, The Annexstad Family Foundation (AFF) has partnered with the Georgia Institute of Technology to ensure talented students with leadership qualities and significant financial need can earn a degree from the Institute without incurring debt.

The Annexstad Family Foundation’s Leaders For Tomorrow (LFT) Scholarship program has enabled bright, driven students to come to Georgia Tech and thrive. In the 12 years since the scholarship has been awarded to Georgia Tech students, 21 LFT scholars have graduated and eight are currently enrolled. Scholarship recipients represent majors from disciplines across Georgia Tech.

LFT scholars are talented, dedicated, and have overcome many hardships on their paths to a Georgia Tech education. As they pursue their studies, they also find connection in their cohort within the larger community of Georgia Tech.

"I have worked with the Annexstad scholars since the program began at Georgia Tech,” said Gina Summers, senior associate director in Tech’s Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid. “And every year I remain incredibly impressed by the dedicated, smart, and accomplished students. I am able to follow up with many of the scholars during their time on campus, and it brings me so much joy to see how their small cohort can offer community and support to one another while they achieve great things and overcome obstacles."

The Annexstad Family Foundation’s partnership supports Georgia Tech’s commitment to student success and access through programs such as the G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Scholarship. Tech Promise makes it possible for academically qualified in-state students with family incomes below $55,500 to earn a Georgia Tech degree debt free Founded in 2007 and named after Georgia Tech President Emeritus G. Wayne Clough, the program has supported more than 1,250 students from over 110 counties across the state.

Beyond financial support, the Tech Promise program also provides community, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to help students thrive.

Kyra Miller, a fourth-year neuroscience student with a minor in health and medical sciences, is a recipient of the LFT and Tech Promise Scholarships. Miller is an undergraduate research assistant in a lab focused on aging and disability, where she assesses the unmet needs of older adults with long-term disabilities with the aim of creating and improving accessible technologies to improve quality of life. She conducts this research while managing her studies and an autoimmune disease, in addition to her involvement with the Student Alumni Association, Astronomy Club, and Student Neuroscience Association. Miller plans to pursue graduate school and a career in clinical research after graduating in May 2026.

“Being an Annexstad Scholar has had such a meaningful impact on my college experience,” said Miller. “I am grateful for the support, encouragement, and sense of community AFF provides. It is incredibly motivating to know that there are people who believe in my potential and are invested in my success.”

The ongoing partnership between The Annexstad Family Foundation and Georgia Tech is a testament to the organizations’ shared belief in the importance of ensuring bright young people have access to a world-class education.
