How did you grow during your study abroad experience?
Studying abroad offered significant growth as I learned how to trust my abilities as a student and become more self-assertive and independent. Before the program, I struggled with high anxiety and imposter syndrome; however, due to the experience, I am more confident in myself.
What was your favorite excursion as part of your study abroad experience?
One of my favorite excursions as part of your study abroad experience was traveling to Paris, France. Never in life have I imagined that at such a young age, I would be able to see the Eiffel Tower, let alone enjoy a pastry on the streets of this city of love. It ultimately became my favorite because it showed me how hard work and resilience pay off, thereby heightening my understanding that nothing is out of reach or impossible.
What advice would you offer other AFF scholars who are interested in studying abroad?
All people know who they are when comfortable, especially when surrounded by their typical circumstances; however, those who choose to be different and chart their own paths must know who they are in new, sometimes ambiguous places. Studying abroad offers this imperative exposure because it immerses you in different cultures and traditions, which in turn causes you to grow and understand yourself and, quite frankly, humanity more as a whole.
