Studying abroad is important to my undergraduate experience as it has allowed me to chase after something eye-opening, something that allows me to experience various possibilities and learn about different cultures.

I selected my program as it was geared towards psychology majors. I took a high level psychology course called the psychology of music, which fulfilled one of my graduation requirements. In addition, I really wanted to travel to Europe.
How did you grow during your study abroad experience?
Studying abroad really expanding my worldview. I feel that I’m wiser after coming back from London and it’s inspired me to travel more. I never went outside of the country prior, so I never knew what was out there waiting for me, but what’s out there is something amazing. What’s out there is a chance to experience something different, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.
What was your favorite excursion as part of your study abroad experience?
My favorite excursion in London would have to be Covent Garden. It’s a shopping and dining area popular with tourists. I always enjoyed the dining part. I loved sharing yummy meals with the friends I meet in London. Pizza, burgers, pancakes, and afternoon tea have become some of my fondest memories, especially from a French restaurant called Ladurée.
What advice would you offer other AFF scholars who are interested in studying abroad?
One big piece of advice is if you want to study abroad, but have reservations because you don’t think you’ll get enough money, please still apply. The experience more than worth taking the chance on an application and you’d be surprised how money financial aid you can get, I know I was. Also, apply to the Gilman scholarship if you’re planning to study abroad, it could give you a lot of extra funding.
